Family violence can be defined as violence between partners in relationship, when one person is trying to take control over the other one, by threatening or using physical force.
Family violence can vary from threats, over verbal and emotional violence, to physical violence that sometimes ends up with a crime.
Types of domestic violence:
- Physical abuse – the use of physical force (pushing, slapping, kicking, pnching) or weapons in order to threat, punish, dominate, control and injure another person
- Emotional or verbal abuse – use of variety of mental strategies such as intimiration, anger, shouting, mockery of partners in front of family or friends, being overly possessive or insulting partners
- Material abuse – destruction of private property or withholding money for food and other needs
- Monitoring – monitoring each steps of partners by tapping the telephone, for example.
