The National SOS line for domestic violence victims received 282 calls, between 1st and 31st of October.
During the previous month the SOS line provided 389 services in a sum, from which 183 were in area of informing, 108 in area of confidential conversations, 46 psychological consultations, 14 initiatives for institutionalization, 9 urgent help interventions, 5 shelter requirements, etc.
During October calls came from 13 municipalities in Montenegro. SOS telephone line received 80 calls from Nikšić, 72 from Podgorica, 25 from Bar, 20 from Kotor, 19 from Budva and Herceg Novi, separately, 12 calls from Rožaje, 10 from Cetinje and Bijelo Polje, separately, 6 from Pljevlja, 3 from Plav and 2 from Tivat.
The National SOS line is free of charges for all networks in Montenegro and it is available 24 hours per week. This service represents the first and the most important step of support for domestic violence victims. The main task of consultants working on the line, is to strengthen the victims, to answer on their current needs, to support them in terms of their competences and abilities to regain a control over their lives. The service provides support in the following areas: emotional support, informing about the victims’ rights, consulting in critical situations, directing on other institutions and organizations and psychological counselling.
