Step Up campaign has started!

On 25th of May, all female organizations within WAVE net (Women Against Violence Europe) are starting European campaign Step Up! In the following 2 years WAVE members will promote rights of women victims of domestic violence as well as rights of their kids.

Violence toward women and girls is still one of the major rights violations and it can have fatal consequences.

Not enough investing in adequate support systems are consequence of putting the blame on the victim, as well as not reporting the violence. In many societies this kind of violence is not acceptable but other tolerate it silently and therefore women have no other solution but to suffer the violence.

This is the main reason we are asking from the Montenegrin society to invest more in specialized support services which would act from women rights aspect and bring the change. WAVE members and SOS Hotline Niksic, together with Shelter, Women’s rights center and SOS Hotline Podgorica, are asking the decision makers on national and European level to:

1. Actively support prevention and protection of domestic violence victims
2. To provide improved approach to specialized support services
3. To increase the availability of specialized support systems in Montenegro
4. To improve the quality of support to independent women organizations who provide specialized support systems and have needs and rights of women who are victims in their focus

Violence against women is collective problem which has immense influence on economic potentials of women, and in the end it affects both national and European economy.

We need partnership in order to bring changes! That’s why we call each of you!
